Stubben Full Cheek Snaffle with Sweet Copper Link

Cheeks 16mm
Thickness 14mm

With Sweet Copper Link

Benefits of Sweet Copper Mouth:

  • Better acceptance because it encourages the horse to chew, thus enhances the saliva production
  • The delicate sweet taste of the middle piece (SWEET COPPER LINK) encourages horses to salivate because their taste buds are situated in the centre of the tongue
  • Massive copper composition (90% Copper, 7% Iron + Aluminum, No Nickel) with very high strength (stronger than Argentan)
  • Horses feel good with Sweet Copper

Benefits of a Full Cheek Snaffle:

  • Long and extended arms above and below the mouthpiece with a ring attached to it. The cheeks have a good lateral guiding effect which enhances the response of the horse on the outside rein when riding bends and circles
  • The leverage effect is not very high. It can be increased however when used with bit keepers, which keep the bit more fixed in the mouth
  • Full-cheek-snaffles have proven to be especially good for training young horses and lungeing work.

Benefits of a Pelham Bit:

  • Can be ridden with one or two sets of reins
  • Leverage bit putting pressure on the bars of the mouth as well as the poll
  • Exact and effective responsiveness
  • Only if you use a Pelham with two reins, you can take advantage of the bit to its full extent. With the rein in the upper large ring, called the snaffle-rein, the action of the bit is similar to an Egg-But-Bit or a Loose-Ring-Snaffle.
  • The lower rein, called the curb rein, which is attached to the lower end of the shank, is used for its curb action with a leverage effect, applying pressure on the poll.
  • Using the Bit with a bit converter and only one rein minimizes its effect. A famous German Riding-Instructor (Trainer) once told me, using a bit converter when riding with a Pelham is like driving a car and holding the hand break at the same time.
  • The special features of a Stübben STEEL tec Pelham are its short shanks of only 5cm ca. 2 inches. This reduces the leverage, but allows a quicker more direct action between reins and mouthpiece. (Standard Pelhams have shanks with a length of 7cm or 2.3/4 inches).
  • The immediate response is especially helpful when show jumping, particularly when the course has many tight turns.
  • The flat curb chain hooks prevent the horse’s lips from being pinched.
  • Furthermore, our curb chain, with flat hooks, is easier to adjust to the each horse’s chin, because you don‘t have to twist it like a conventional curb chain, so it can lie flat in the chin groove

Highest Quality Stübben Steeltec materials and workmanship

No rough edges
• Long durability is achieved by using stainless steel for all lateral mouth pieces
• Bit holes and link pieces don't wear out as fast

Stubben EZ Control Full Cheek Snaffle

Thickness 14mm
Cheeks 6 ¼"

Benefits of an EZ Control Bit:

  • Optimal adaptation through the unique bit-design - flexibility on the sides
  • Enhanced effect with minimum pressure on the reins
  • Allows gentle and sensitive aids
  • Enables easier communication between horse and rider
  • Top-class and professional show jumpers inspired us in the development of the EZ-CONTROL-BIT.
  • Their horses (show jumpers) often have a very strong impulsion, making it difficult at times for the rider to bring the horse back before each jump.
  • When using too severe bits however, horses become too cautious, resulting in a lack of speed and power in the jumping course.
  • With the EZ-CONTROL-BIT we have developed a bit which is very effective and has a strong action on demand, yet positioned soft and comfortable in the horse’s mouth.
  • The effect of the bit comes into action gently. When the horse accepts the bit, it lies smoothly between tongue and lower jaw.
  • Only in moments of disobedience, when the horse resists the riders aid, the leverage action of the bit is initiated. As soon as the horse backs down and accepts the riders aid, the bit acts flexible and soft on the horse’s tongue and bars.
  • This particular effect of the EZ-CONTROL-BIT has proved its worth also in the training of young horses. Horse trainers speak of a self-learning-aspect, because many horses begin to correct themselves as soon as the leverage action is initiated.
  • The problem when horses become too strong in the riders hands and run away from the riders aid exists quite often, not only when show jumping. We have also had very good results in tests with children, who sometimes did not have enough strength to control their ponies when they were too strong or disobedient.
  • With the EZ-CONTROL-BIT riders have a more effective impact on the horse, requiring less pressure on the reins.
